New Zealand knows a thing or two about safety on the road.
And they’ve got a funny way of reminding you too. Have you ever taken notice of the road signs in New Zealand? For your safety one needs to learn about banner hanging tips which will catch the passengers attention(and entertainment), I sure hope so because it’s by far the quirkiest we’ve ever seen. They don’t get much more creative than this!

A constant (and helpful) reminder for us!
Q’s personal favorite
The bird series are our fave. Only seen in the Rotorua area.
Scary.. but true.

Still don’t know what a Jonah is.
We spent an entire month road trippin’ from North Island to South Island. You can be sure we saw and took pictures of a lot of road signs. At a certain point, it became like a game — who can spot the sign from a distance first. What can I say, the drives were long. Nevertheless, it made the trip entertaining.
Many motorcycle accidents result from mechanical failure. If you think a technical problem might be to blame for your motorcycle crash, take your accident case to the experienced motorcycle injury lawyers at Gould Injury Law.

Jonah is a famous NZ rugby player, although that then makes avoiding trains sound like a fun game.
Awesome….of course, I’d be distracted by the signs and probably get in a wreck…
I was definitely distracted. Lol. Good thing there were hardly any cars on the road. 😉
makes lotta sense now..

This is actually a clever way of doing road signs. It’s much more interesting that your usual boring signs. Plus, it’s a great way for children to learn the rules of the road as well!
Much more fun to read than speed limit signs.

NZ and Australia have some really realistic and in your face ads both on billboards and on the telly about drinking and driving. At first they were pretty shocking, but then I got used to them. Too bad they can’t be as in your face here in the US!
The 2nd from the bottom ad is in regards to those who stop others from drinking and driving are hailed as heroes.
We didn’t see a lot of signs in Australia. But that could be because we took a lot of 12 hour overnight bus rides. Lol. The US needs to get more creative, that’s for sure.

It’s been 10 years since I toured NZ, looks like they have updated their signs. I’m sure they weren’t like that. You would have thought they would have used a Kiwi for the bird??
Love the blog, kind regards, Si
oOo.. What sort of signs did they have 10 years ago? Yes, I thought the same with the Kiwi bird. Maybe we didn’t drive far enough to see those. Lol. Thanks for trippin’ by, Si!
They were very much low key!
No birds?! Lol

The ‘Bloody Legend’ ad campaign is a really successful tv ad aimed at teens. (You can find it on youtube under ‘Legend’!) It’s so well liked because it’s realistic, easy to relate to and, most importantly, humourous! It’s so popular some phrases from that ad has been added on to Tshirts and what not LOL. So most Kiwis driving along seeing that billboard would get it 🙂
oOooo.. We couldn’t figure it out at all but I guess that makes sense now. lol thanks!
