It’s insane to think one year ago today, we launched GQ trippin’.
This blog was intended to keep our family and friends updated on our adventures around the world. I never imagined it would be where it is today – to have readers, people we don’t know from over 80 countries, take part in our travels as well, it’s humbling and quite frankly, f’in awesome!
I never thought it could bring me so much joy to wake up in the morning and find a new blog comment. Or a new Facebook Like or even a RT on Twitter. But it does and for that, we
THANK YOU.
It’s been a year of new beginnings. In short, we started this blog, left our jobs to travel and made a bunch of new friends. Together we’ve been traveling for 8 months, visited 13 countries and 66 cities.
one year of blogging.
In case you’ve missed it, here is a short list of some of our favorite posts from this past year.
- 7 Super Shots – India Edition: A fun tag game in the travel blogging community that allowed us to highlight our time in India.
- Sushi To Dai For: Arguably the best meal we’ve ever had!
- A Wet & Wild Songkran in Chiang Mai: A video montage to one of the best New Year’s celebration.
new friends.
One of the favorite things we get from this blog is making new friends. Through the power of social media, we were able to connect with many other people – travel bloggers. It sounded ridiculous to us at first, a scheduled “Tweet-up” to meet people we’ve only gotten to know through Twitter. But it quickly became our favorite way to make new friends.
Just this past year, we’ve wine’d down with Bobbi and Jeremy in Wellington, had dinner with Gary in Hong Kong and Craig and Linda in Kuala Lumpur.
We drank sake from a jar on the streets of Tokyo with Dan and Audrey. We went penguin watching with Kieron and Amy on Phillip Island in Australia, and slept on Jay’s couch in Queenstown.
So many of you are not listed above, but we hope you know how much it meant to us to have met you. You’ve inspired, motivated and shaped us. Thank you for making this year the most memorable one ever.
thank you.
We feel blessed and are grateful for the support from our family and friends – and everyone on the interweb – you’re all incredibly awesome! I hope you’ve enjoyed tagging along as we have equally enjoyed living out our dreams. Again, from the bottom of our hearts thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. I can’t even begin to describe how great the past year has been. Without your support, none of this could be possible.
Thanks for trippin’ by and here’s to another great year!
Gerard & Kieu
P.S. Don’t forget to wish Gerard a Happy 29th!!
He’s doing something very special this year for his birthday.
