VIDEO: Our Year in Travel

1,266 videos and 11 hours of footage all wrapped up in 3-minutes.

We never claim to be vloggers which is probably why you hardly saw any videos from our travels last year. Most are short clips of random things that don’t really make sense on their own, so we didn’t bother sharing.

But now that we’re home, Gerard decided to take on this massive project and put together all those random videos to sum up our year-long adventure around the world. It wasn’t easy, but after weeks of sorting and countless hours of editing, it’s finally ready. A labor of love and a trip down memory lane. We hope you enjoy it.

This gave me goosies. So well done! After a year of reading your posts, this is a perfect way to encapsulate it and see the smiles (or the fear) on your faces.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 8, 2013 at 8:24 am #

Haha.. it’s a lot of work. =P Luckily, Gerard was able to out them all together and make sense of them. I shot a lot of random junk that didn’t make the cut. Lol

    AMAZING video!! SO inspiring! :)

Very well done! This belongs on the main page somewhere. It captures the trip as succinctly as you’d hope to. Seeing that, I wonder how vivid the memory of my trip could’ve been if I had taken the time to video it.
I’m trusting my imagination and on balance I think I gained as much not worrying about the camera. But seeing this awesomeness makes me wonder :)

Thanks guys! Wonder what would’ve been possible if we had better equipment. Our P&S didn’t do too bad though. :)

This was so much full of AWESOME! I want to eat every one of that delicious things that you ate! =) Is it strange that out of the whole video, only the eating part stuck with me?!

  14. The World Wanderer February 2, 2013 at 5:40 pm #

I just cried a little, okay a lot, while watching this. Sums up all the reasons why people need to see the world. Absolutely beautiful! xx

I absolutely love your video! We’ve seen some of those places, and there are a whole lot more we haven’t, but watching your video made me get excited about travel all over again (even though we’re currently halfway through our own journey). Really clever, really beautiful, really fun! Thanks for sharing it.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 8, 2013 at 8:22 am #

There’s still the other half to enjoy. :) We’re itching to get back out. Haha. Thanks for watching, Lana.

I just landed in Morocco, country #73 – it has been on my bucket list for over a decade. I emailed my best mate and he replied with a link to this video. Absolutely wonderful – it is inspiring, I must do something like it myself.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 6, 2013 at 10:54 am #

Wow #73?! Awesome. I’d like to visit Morocco one day. Just start filming a bunch of random stuff even if it don’t make sense. :D

  20. Andrew February 5, 2013 at 2:09 pm #

    Re-inspired. Thanks guys!

  21. Reannon Muth February 6, 2013 at 7:53 am #

Awwww This is great! I was feeling sort of jaded and “over traveling” so to speak and then I watched this. Definitely re-inspired. :)

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 6, 2013 at 8:59 pm #

Aww I’m glad we got the bug back in yah – it’s quite contagious you know. :P

  22. Bikeguy February 6, 2013 at 8:38 am #

Absolutely brilliant! Made me cry. Also made me jealous. What a great video. Loved that you went to Indiana. That was the biggest surprise for me in the video.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 6, 2013 at 10:53 am #

Lol, I hope you meant India. But I’d love to visit Indiana one day too. :P Thanks for watching our video!

      • Bikeguy February 6, 2013 at 3:24 pm #

I heard “in Vienna” as Indiana, hence the error! I’d have picked Vienna over Indiana too.

  23. Adelina W February 6, 2013 at 1:16 pm #

This is AMAZING! I loved the video from beginning to end. Its inspired me to shoot more video and just get going. Great stuff.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 6, 2013 at 8:59 pm #

Thanks! Definitely shoot more even if you don’t think it’ll make any sense.. that’s what I did. LOL

      • Adelina W February 7, 2013 at 6:37 am #

Haha, sounds like a good strategy. I did that at the beginning, but then soon gave up. Should have kept going!

        What did you shoot with?

  24. Anne February 7, 2013 at 1:13 am #

I adore your video! I literally watched it 10 times over the last few days as inspiration for my SE Asia adventure :-) and I def need a videocamera!

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 7, 2013 at 3:50 am #

Thanks! We used our Canon S100 point and shoot for this one so no need to invest in a video camera.. just a bigger memory card. hehe :)

  25. Bernadette Jackson February 7, 2013 at 5:46 am #

Wow! That’s just amazing. You’ve just made me smile all the way through, and realise yet again that I’m still completely addicted to travel. Great editing too. Thank you so much for sharing.

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 8, 2013 at 8:21 am #

Thanks for watching, Bernadette! Gerard worked on it for weeks so I’ll let him take the editing credit. :)

  26. Frank Seidel February 7, 2013 at 11:14 pm #

Congratulations guys! This is probably the best illustration to “Adventure of a life time” I have ever seen, and working in international volunteering, I have seen a few. I envy you for all the things you’ve seen and done and eaten. Keep going, there are still many adventures ahead!

    • Kieu - GQ trippin February 8, 2013 at 8:20 am #

Thank you Frank! Yes, many many more adventures ahead indeed.
